BACnet Integration using object names only

Is there anyway in N4.15 to integrate to bacnet points from lets say a Distech ECY-S1000 into a JACE-9000 by only using the bacnet object name? We want to make a template using just object names for integration and not using object id#'s.

In my red arrow below that field only accepts numeric values and not any other character…

Can this be done by creating a normal point and adding bacnet slots to its proxy ext?

When i used to work for ALC we could map points with their object id #, name , or even the HEX value… The intent being we didnt care about the object #’s as long as they were unique but could reuse the program/template anywhere.

I have to ask, why wouldn’t you use the same object ID’s for the same equipment?

I’m with Charles on this… would be way easier and makes more sense.

Because the gfx programs are slightly different so we don’t want to use slightly different templates at the Niagara level as well… we want 1 template that’s one size fits all…

Where we don’t need to worry about the order of AV#s or whether they exist or not…

That’s not a thing in Niagara.

Meaning they don’t officially support object names instead of object IDs? In regard to integration.

When you discover objects it brings in the object name and ID together. It takes the BACnet info and packages it into the proxy extension.

So if you want a template, they need to match. No way around that.

Dang that’s undesirable

If this is templating your dealing with, you may want to look into tagging you points.
