Tridium AX Station backdoor Login

Hello! I’ve been lurking on this site for a while. I am relatively new to the BAS world. I have been in HVAC for 16 years though. I am taking my N4 cert class in March. I have a problem though. One of our managers quit recently and did not leave his login credentials for some old AX stations that now need to be upgraded to N4. I have the Platform login but not the Admin for the Station. Is there any way to add a user to the station? I have tried opening the .bog file in the palette and making a new user that way, but it has not worked. I’m not sure that I am sending it back to the station or if the station needs to be running or not. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I believe in AX you can create a user in the .bog file, then you have to use the station copier and reinstall the station back to the Jace or Supervisor. You might be able to reinstall the station if you go through the wizard serve too.

Nate,

You would ideally need a copy of AX3.8.504 on your laptop. With this you can connerct to the platform (as you have the creds) and copy over the station to your laptop, which it looks like you have done. (you wont be able to do this in N4)

You can open the .bog file in the AX workbench and add your new admin superuser. (copy admin is usually the easiest way). Save the .bog file and this can be used to perform the migration there and then.

I say there and then, but there are a few gotchas.

You then open up your desired flavour of N4 workbench console and use this to perform the migration, this is too much to go into here, so if you like I can do a migration for you, or add a new user.

send me a pm if you want to email the station files.

Regards Keith

Hey guys,

Thank you so much for your help. I was getting stuck at sending it back to the station, i.e. using station copier to reinstall the station back to the Jace. I appreciate your help very much, @emccreary72.

@Keithd , I appreciate the walk through, and the offer to help with the migration. Based on what I read on the help doc, it definitely would be too much to get into. Fortunately, the previous manager had an N4 copy of that particular program already running on another unit, same specs and everything. I’m sure I’ll have to do a migration at some point, but I’m glad that I don’t have to do it right now.

Thanks again for your help. If you know of any other places to get challenges and such, please let me know. I’ve completed the ones here.
